      Description

      11 pounds of frozen skin-on walleye fillets

      Medium sized skin-on frozen 6-8 oz. walleye fillets. The fish is vacuum-packed in roughly 1 pound packages. This is not farm walleye, it was wild caught in pristine lakes of Canada, filleted and cleaned and then packaged in roughly one pound packages and then flash frozen to ensure freshness. The fillets are perfect size for a dinner plate, you can plan for 2 people per pound when you order.

      Package

      Vacuum packed in roughly 1 pound packages (not all will be equal) for a total of 11 pounds of fish. 11 pounds will be in a cardboard box.

      How it tastes

      Walleye are regarded as the best tasting freshwater fish in the world prized by anglers for its tender flaky meat. It is not very fishy.

      Ways to cook

      One of the best ways to cook walleye is by pan-searing it until golden brown, which enhances its natural taste. Breaded and fried and deep fried are probably the most common and traditional methods. Baking walleye with lemon slices and fresh herbs is another excellent method. Grilling walleye also works wonderfully, giving it a smoky and slightly charred taste.

      I love 'em. When they arrived one bag of dry ice was gone but the other was still frozen and all the fillets were rock hard. Very happy, very good... only thing that would make them better is if they weren't so darn expensive... may try the Bluegill next time but as I recall, they weren't mush less.

      Arrived with all the dry ice gone, but fish still frozen so OK. Fish cleaned well and no bones. Walleye taste seems a little mild for Ontario walleyes--but maybe me because I have not had any in a while. Overall, pleased with the purchase. Did not receive an email with shipment information.

      I bought the perch some time ago, and it came in one large frozen block, which would be fine if you are having a large fish fry or s reastraunt. For a small family smaller individual Pkgs would be nice. shipments always show up on time and in good shape. Love the product even if it is a wee bit pricey.

      My frozen walleye fillets arrived via FedEx 2 day air. Although the dry ice was completely vaporized the fillets were frozen solid, and absolutely fantastic. Incidentally, I live in Southwest Florida where the temperatures were in the high 80's when my package arrived. This is my third order with Walleye Direct. I will definitely be ordering again soon.

      This is our 3rd shipment of fish. They ship it from MN, 2 day air with dry ice and it arrives in 105 degree Phoenix still frozen. No worries on will it still be frozen. Couldn't ask for better service or tastier fish. the trick of peeling off the frozen skin under running water is a godsend also.

      As residents of the central coast in California, my husband and I know a thing or two about fresh seafood, and since he was raised in Minnesota, he knows even more about walleye. Without a doubt, your walleye fillets are the some of the best he or I have ever eaten. The fillets are big and meaty. We think that the flash freezing makes all the difference in the great taste versus what you normally get in frozen fish. You can get cheaper but you can't get better unless you pull out of the lake yourself, still flipping.
