      Description

      11 pounds of frozen skin-on walleye fillets

      Medium sized skin-on frozen 6-8 oz. walleye fillets. The fish is vacuum-packed in roughly 1 pound packages. This is not farm walleye, it was wild caught in pristine lakes of Canada, filleted and cleaned and then packaged in roughly one pound packages and then flash frozen to ensure freshness. The fillets are perfect size for a dinner plate, you can plan for 2 people per pound when you order.

      Package

      Vacuum packed in roughly 1 pound packages (not all will be equal) for a total of 11 pounds of fish. 11 pounds will be in a cardboard box.

      How it tastes

      Walleye are regarded as the best tasting freshwater fish in the world prized by anglers for its tender flaky meat. It is not very fishy.

      Ways to cook

      One of the best ways to cook walleye is by pan-searing it until golden brown, which enhances its natural taste. Breaded and fried and deep fried are probably the most common and traditional methods. Baking walleye with lemon slices and fresh herbs is another excellent method. Grilling walleye also works wonderfully, giving it a smoky and slightly charred taste.

      I was concerned about 3 day shipping as we were having above average warm weather and would the Walleye stay frozen. No problem; the dry ice was still in a large chunk and the fish were solid. Best fish, best customer service!

      PKG Arrived on time in great shape. I didn't have to fillet the fish like I have to do when I catch the fish, so NO FUSS. I also found it very easy to remove he skins by using your method of running the skin side of the fillet under hot water.

      I was so hungry for walleye, but do not fish myself. I also cannot eat it breaded. This walleye is exactly what I was hungry for. I just peel the skin off and broil it. It is excellent.

      I was concerned that the fish, traveling over land for two days to Texas would not be frozen when they arrived. However when they arrived they were still completely frozen. The filets are the perfect size, so sweet and delicate tasting. So happy we walleye-starved former Minnesotans can have our favorite fish so far away from home.

      The fillets arrived when I expected them to due to the tracking number provided. The dry ice was gone, as it was to be gone. I was amazed at the size of each fillet. I individually wrapped the fillets in Glad Press N Seal and placed four fillets in a gallon size freezer bag. We had fillets for dinner that evening and they were DELICIOUS!

      I ordered 11 lbs of walleye fillets from Walleye Direct, but had concerns as I have ordered other frozen foods from other companies to be shipped to Washington State only to have it arrive thawed and not usable. To my surprise, the fillets arrived solidly frozen and individually frozen for ease of repackaging for the freezer. I have used several of the fillets since getting my order and they are great!       I intended to order perch. I don't know what happened. The wallete was very good so no real harm done. I was a bit dissapointed in the packaging. Fillets "swimming" around loose in the bag, unsealed seemed a little off. But again, I am satisfied with my purchase.
