      Description

      11 pounds of frozen skin-on walleye fillets

      Medium sized skin-on frozen 6-8 oz. walleye fillets. The fish is vacuum-packed in roughly 1 pound packages. This is not farm walleye, it was wild caught in pristine lakes of Canada, filleted and cleaned and then packaged in roughly one pound packages and then flash frozen to ensure freshness. The fillets are perfect size for a dinner plate, you can plan for 2 people per pound when you order.

      Package

      Vacuum packed in roughly 1 pound packages (not all will be equal) for a total of 11 pounds of fish. 11 pounds will be in a cardboard box.

      How it tastes

      Walleye are regarded as the best tasting freshwater fish in the world prized by anglers for its tender flaky meat. It is not very fishy.

      Ways to cook

      One of the best ways to cook walleye is by pan-searing it until golden brown, which enhances its natural taste. Breaded and fried and deep fried are probably the most common and traditional methods. Baking walleye with lemon slices and fresh herbs is another excellent method. Grilling walleye also works wonderfully, giving it a smoky and slightly charred taste.

      My parents are from North Dakota and the only fish my mother will eat is Walleye, living it MO, there aren't many opportunities to fish for walleye. So every so often I will load her up with a present from Up North. Walleye Direct has great fish, wonderful sized, individually packed. They arrive about as cold as when they left the plant. She enjoys ever morsel of them.

      When I went back to Indiana recently we had brought some walleye from South Chicago. When we came home to unpack it we noticed on the box it was package in Poland ! To say the least no way was this fresh lake walleye ! After ordering and eating the walleye from Walleye Direct it was like day and night. I ordered on Sunday from Myrtle Beach and it came to our day on Wednesday frozen solid with dry ice still coldI can not say enough . It was a little pricy compared to the other one but it was worth every penny of it ! Thank you Walleye Direct.

      The fish is great. I will not in the future, however have it sent 2 day air. It took 7 days and for the extra cost of 2 day vs regular delivery I don't think it was worth the extra money.. FYI the dry ice was gone by the time that it did get here but the fish was still totally frozen.

      The Walleye were fantastic. We thawed them; a light coating of flour, dipped in egg & then a light coating of panko bread crumbs, refrigerated overnight. The next evening we fried them in a hot olive oil--nothing better, no left overs. Will certainly order from Walleye Direct again.

      I highly recommend these walleye fillets with the skin. I think the skin imparts more of that walleye nuttiness to the fish. It is pretty easy to remove while the fillets are mostly frozen, if you like. If allowed to "swim" in a cold water bath for a few moments until defrosted, the result is the taste and texture of freshly caught fish. Delicious!
