      Frozen Sauger Fillets - 11 pounds of wild caught Canadian fillets 2.5 - 4.5 ounces each.

      Sauger are closely related to walleye and very similar in taste. They look very similar but are generally smaller. In both size and taste sauger are "in between" walleye and yellow perch. Sauger are also known as Canadian Pike even though they aren't really a pike and are found well south of the border, but that's the name.

      With shortages of yellow perch continuing, sauger is a great and less expensive alternative.

      I love the taste of this fish it is delicious. I would highly recommend to a friend. I am still getting used to cooking it. I cook with seasoned cast iron pans & for some reason these fillets stuck to the frying pan each time. The last time I cooker them , I didn't use herbs & this made a huge difference..

      I will re-package the fillets in smaller portions next time to avoid freezer burn. Made them as cleaned but didn't like the taste with skin on. Pulled out my fillet knife and took the skin off, made a world of difference! Will buy these in the future as an alternative to perch and walleye.

      These filets were so tasty! I air fried them and served them with a homemade aioli (fancy name for tartar sauce) made with olive oil mayo, capers, sweet relish and a couple of drops of sweet dark balsamic vinegar. They do not come packaged so we froze them in packs of 3.

      I grew up in the Great Lakes area but never heard of a sauger. The taste of the fish is exactly as described and a delicious blend of walleyed pike and lake perch. The northern pike, a fish I know well, was also delicious. Delivery was prompt and fish were frozen.
