      Description

      Lake Perch Fillet -- 5 pound package of frozen butterfly fillets --  roughly 1 pound vacuum packs. These are skin on and filleted, so no bones minus a few that slip through.

      These vary in size but are usually on the smaller side when they taste the best. Yellow Perch or Lake Perch are a cousin of the larger walleye, but taste very close. Like our other smaller fish we do the dirty work and clean the fish so it is ready for your pan.

      Please note that this is "real" lake perch (Perca flavescens) from freshwater inland lakes. I have spoken with many customers who have ordered ocean perch or Lake Victoria perch from other sites online that are not the same fish.

      Although I forgot to include it on the original order, I sent an email (about 5 minutes after I placed the order) to request PM delivery, and leave on putting green. My email did not get communicated; the package was delivered at 8:06 a.m. and was inside; I didn't see it for an hour when I got home and the fish had started to thaw. I believe I got them in the freezer in time, but wish you would have gotten the message...mostly, for the PM delivery part. Thanks

      The Perch came in their own box, with dry ice wrapped around them inside the the shipping container. When we open them up we were starving for Lake Perch, quickly we thawed them out for the next day. Perch were cut in nice filets, we just looked at each other and yelled PERCH, we were so ready for them. After frying them oh how good they were. We will be ordering them again. A little bet expensive shipping them, but you want them her still frozen right. Good job Walleye Direct.

      The lake perch has taken me back to my childhood on the great lakes. Some of the filets are a little smaller than I would have liked but the taste is still amazing.

      I purchased the perch for my sister-in-law who lived in Wisconsin and enjoyed the Friday night fish fries. She moved now lives in Florida and hasn't had a good perch dinner for about eight years so when they arrived she was very surprised. The fish tasted great like she use to remember. The pieces were good size and arrived still frozen. I would buy them again but it would be nice if they were sold by the pound.

      So far, I have been pleased, have made about 7 meals, and still have about 1/2 a box left. Still learning the best way to pull the skin off, but once done, I'm ready to saute. I have been cooking the fish in Canola Oil for about 2 1/2 minutes each side on Medium High Heat, and the meals have been very good. Would purchase again.

      The ultimate comfort food for me is what my mom made when I was a kid. My dad and I would pull perch like this from Wisconsin lakes. Brought back good memories! Can't get this kind of fish in California. Utterly delicious -- will order again soon.

      Thank you for the timely delivery of our 5# of lake perch. Having lived in MI in the first half (40+ years) of my life, I have eaten many, many fried perch dinners in local taverns and restaurants. The perch you sent me (2nd order) has been eaten for 1 dinner (3 servings) already and I should like to say is of premium quality and taste. It is probably some of the best I have tasted in my life- - - -and I don't complement easily. The family loved it !!!

      We just had Lake Erie Perch in Athens Ga and it was great. They were individually frozen so they weren't all stuck together. We ended up cooking the whole 5 lbs could have just as easily thawed and cooked 1 butterfly fillet. Looked and tasted great.
